The amazing Chinese acrobat group The Peking Acrobats will perform Tuesday, July 17 at the Stanislaus County Fair. Howdy there Fair-E Tale followers! Kelly K here again and hoping that your February has started out great so far! Can you believe it’s February already? I feel like I am going to just wake up one day and Fair will be here… I have some fun and exciting new things to let you guys in on.

This year, the 101^st year of the Stanislaus County Fair, we are ready to show you guys our new make- over! We have a new logo and tag line, Imagine the Fun!

Our new brand is for your imagination! We wanted to create something that allowed ya’ll to imagine all the possibilities at the Fair with our new look.

Funky Frank, as we call him, is for all the kiddies out there and will be the “face” of our New Fair Kidz Club! The Ferris wheel logo is something y’all will see a lot of, including our website and mobile app where you will be able to interact with it!

I am also writing to tell you guys it’s never too soon to start thinking about getting your tickets! Beginning May 5^th, you can buy your discounted admission tickets to the Fair. Remember, FoodMaxx  Arena Tickets with be on sale as well. YAY!!

DON’T FORGET! The exhibits are some of my favorite things to do at the Fair, so make sure you enter in your exhibits. You can get this information from our website. In late April, the handbook will be available. Just so you know some of my favorites, in case you’d like to enter your talents into these, are the Homemade Wine and Brew, Drawings, Photography, and Livestock. You can probably catch me at one of these places eating a funnel cake or hot dog!

Well folks, I love Rock and I am feeling the love. That’s right, if you haven’t heard already, Bret Michaels, winner of celebrity “The Apprentice” and “Rock of Love” heart throb, is coming to OUR Fair!! I don’t know about you guys, but this night is going to be wild! The rocker got his jump start as the lead singer for the band Poison. I’m guessing “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” is playing through your heads right about now! Well suit up in your best rocker gear because on Thursday, July 19^th, Bret Michaels will be performing for our Fair on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage. Remember folks, this concert is FREE with price of Fair admission!

At this year’s Western Fairs Association (WFA) convention, a non-profit trade association serving the fair industry throughout 14 Western United States and Canada, the Stanislaus County Fair was recognized with 14 awards. The 2011 convention was held in Anaheim, California earlier this month.WFA Awards

The “Travelin’ Band” Sawyer Brown is making their way to this year’s Stanislaus County Fair. The country band, Sawyer Brown, will perform Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Stanislaus County Fair. Howdy there Fair-E Tale followers. My name is Kelly K and I am new to the Stanislaus County Fair Team this year. I couldn’t be more excited. I have been to this Fair nearly every year since I was a little girl. It’s only January and I am jumping out of desk chair with anticipation. I hope you all take this magical ride with me this year!

I just found out that at this year’s Western Fairs Association Conference (WFA), the Stanislaus County Fair took home 14, that’s right, 14 awards! I think it’s the greatest Fair in all the land, and it looks like others’ agree.  We placed first for “Newspaper Advertising” in the Modesto Bee full page ad, and “Any Other Advertising Displayed in Print” which appeared in Turlock Living Magazine Fair Edition.

Being at the Fairgrounds without the roars of the roller coasters, children laughing, winning bells, music, the smell of funnel cake and corn dogs, the lights of the Ferris wheel and games, makes me wish Fair would never end. We’re dreaming up some magical things this year and I, and the rest of the Fair-E team, am hoping you’ll be a part of the fun.

Not only am I excited about Fair, but guess who is coming our way country fans…SAWYER BROWN! Say Whaa? On the Budweiser Free Stage opening night Friday, July 13^th Sawyer Brown will be performing at the Stanislaus County Fair. Kat country 103 will be on board so ya’ll should come by, grab a hot dog or funnel cake, and enjoy this “Travelin’ Band”.

Our office is beaming with creativity! We’ve been brain storming all kinds of great ideas for Fair. One new thing happening this year for Fair is we are rebranding. We want everyone who love’s this Fair to be able to pick us out of a line-up. Moving forward we will be using specific concepts to brand our Fair along with the new tag line, “Imagine the Fun!” When you come to Fair this year it will be a treat for your imagination. I can’t say everything we are doing here to you guys just yet, but get ready for a crazy fun ride.

Christmas lights are everywhere, like the midway lights at Fair. The smells of Chimney smoke fill the air like the antique engines do when you pass by E2. The leaves have all fallen and only left the mistletoe, for a kiss to be shared by Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. The holidays are here and everywhere we look are candy cane traces but during Fair time, its corn dog crumbs that cover kid’s faces. The Clydesdale parade has been tucked away like the children do, before you know who comes down the chimney slough. Fair is all around us we just have to look.

Many of us think of Fair as just a summer job, but that’s far from the case.  Just like Santa’s prepared for the 25^th day of December, the 10 days of July will be a Fair to remember. We have men and women who keep this Fair in tip top shape for the coming year. Let us call on them like Santa does his reindeer. Now maintenance! Now, exhibits, on sponsors and interim rentals! On, payroll! On, marketing! On, turf club and concessions! Just like Santa’s reindeer that help pull the sleigh, these departments help make the Fair what it is today! Our Fair friends and family work hard day and night to make sure the 10 day run of Fair is a delight! So before you think that Fair is far away, take a look around you, it’s right on its way!

The Friends of the Fair Foundation officials presented CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani with a $25,467 check for the CSU Stanislaus Agricultural Studies Department at the Stanislaus County Fair Board of Directors meeting. The proceeds came from the 9^th annual Tastes of the Valley Wine and Cheese event held on October 6, 2011 at the Fairgrounds.  Tickets to the event were sold for $35 each and proceeds from the event benefited the agricultural studies program at CSU Stanislaus and the Stanislaus County Friends of the Fair Foundation.
