Legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd to headline at Stanislaus
County Fair
Turlock
–Representing everything rock and roll and
everything American, Lynyrd
Skynyrd’s signature sound and harmonious blend
of guitar-driven rock and southern blues roots is
coming to the
Stanislaus
County Fair!
Lynyrd
Skynyrd, who has been rocking audiences for
over 30 years, will perform at the Stanislaus County Fair on Monday, July 29, at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets for the concert are $18 for grandstand
seating and $20 for arena floor seating. Tickets go on
sale on Saturday, May 4.
Lynyrd
Skynyrd began
their success in the early 70’s with the classic
hits, “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Freebird,”
“What’s Your Name” and “Gimme Three Steps.”
Tragedy striking this band twice, taking away
four of its original band members, has not stopped
them from making music and giving their fans the shows
that they love. “Lynyrd Skynyrd is still performing the classic rock hits
that made them a success in the 70’s and they have
added new hits that bring young rock fans and old rock
fans together,” commented Pennie Rorex, fair
spokeswoman. “This
event is a big one for the Central Valley and it will
sell out fast,” added Rorex.
A
Lynyrd Skynyrd founder, Billy Powell (piano) joked,
“People still talk about us making a comeback, which
is nuts because we’ve been back for about 15
years.” Indeed,
the band to date has sold more than 25 million records
and the past four years in particular have brought
Lynyrd Skynyrd back to the verge of their biggest
successes. Their summer tours are consistently among the highest
grossing tours in the country.
And, Skynyrd’s album Lyve
from Steeltown was certified gold by the RIAA in
2001.
