Fair officials mourn
the loss of Ross Carroll
Turlock--Board
members and staff of the Stanislaus County Fair are
mourning the loss of one of the community’s finest
builders and fair advocates, Ross Carroll.
Carroll is the late husband of board member
Sheila Carroll.
“The
untimely death of Ross Carroll is a major loss to the
community,” said Tony Leo, chief executive officer
of the Stanislaus County Fair. “The same can be said
for the loss of Ross’s two flying associates,
Turlock’s Allen Palmer and Carol Dunker.”
“Ross
was a respected businessman and a friend to all,”
said Ray Souza, president of the Stanislaus County
Fair board. “While it was his wife that served on
our board, he was a strong supporter of her work and a
true supporter of the Fair.”
At the same time, fair officials are offering
their prayers and deepest sympathy to board member
Sheila Carroll, the lone survivor in the Saturday
evening plane crash.
Carroll is hospitalized in a medical facility
located near the crash site.
“Sheila
is an active member of the Fair board and a strong
advocate for the educational component of the Fair,”
said Souza.
Carroll
has served on the Stanislaus County Fair board since
the mid 1990’s.
She was originally appointed by Governor Pete
Wilson. Carroll
serves as the chair of the Fair board’s Commercial
Committee and is a member of the Executive and
Marketing Committee.
