to open Stanislaus
County Fair!

the Stanislaus
County Fair will open to the beat of the legendary
rock band Grand
Funk Railroad!
Grand
Funk, the top selling American rock group of the
70’s, will take center stage on Friday,
July 26 on the Budweiser Variety Stage.
All concerts on this stage are included with the price of fair admission.
Grand
Funk Railroad—The American Band—is newly reformed.
And, after playing to more than a million fans
on the band’s 1996, 1997 and 1998 tours, Grand Funk
is on tour again. Grand Funks’ mega-hits include
“We’re An American Band,” “I’m Your
Captain/Closer to Home,” “Locomotion,” and
“Some Kind of Wonderful.”
These hits still receive continuous airplay on
classic rock radio stations.
Grand
Funk was formed in 1969.
Currently, the group includes original founding
members Don Brewer (vocals, drums, writer and singer
of the hit, “We’re An American Band,” and
bassist Mel Schacher. Together, Brewer and Schacher
have created a dynamic multi-talented five-piece band
to carry on the tradition of the Grand Funk hits.
The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st
year. The 2002 fair opens
Friday, July 26 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Through
the Eyes of a Child.”
Last year, a record-number of family members
enjoyed the fair as attendance topped 215,000
visitors.
The
mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a
family and community oriented experience promoting
agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
