Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday, July 26

Jam-packed with new features, piles of fun for kids, free rides for senior citizens, incredible celebrity entertainment, and awesome exhibits, the Stanislaus County Fair will open on Friday, July 26 at 5:00 p.m. for its 10-day run!

“Our team has worked year-round for what we believe will be one of the best Stanislaus County Fair’s ever,” said Tony Leo, chief executive officer of the fair. “Our mission is to create a family-oriented experience at our fair and we have done exactly that.”

“One of the most exciting additions to this year’s fair is the Western Ranch Corral,” shared Leo. Fairgoers are encouraged to come on down to the corral and rest their spurs while enjoying the energy and charisma of LaDeana at the fair’s newest outdoor family saloon. Performing three free shows each night, LaDeana is first-class country entertainment at its best.  The “corral” offers picnic tables under a shade cloth with a western-town façade to set the mood.  Located next to the famous Latif’s pie booth, the corral provides a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the entertainment.

More entertainment is in store for you, this time from Euro Disney to Main Street Disneyland and now to the Stanislaus County Fair. It’s world-renowned Ken Caulkin’s full-sized Bandwagon.  “The bandwagon is like a player piano in that it is digitally operated.  But this musical beauty is a former horse-drawn wagon that has been restored to hold 55 digitally operated instruments from the banjo to the timpani,” Leo explained.  “You can request one of more than 5,000 stock songs nightly at the Garden Stage, near the Floriculture Building.”

Say cheese!  And cheese it will be as you observe the state’s premiere cheese carver, Sarah Nep, carving 40-pound cheese blocks. Nep has carved cheese sculptures of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Dole and Bill Clinton. She is a true artist with an interesting and tasteful canvas. Save a slice of your time during your fair visit to catch Nep in action, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons in the Save Mart Ag-Hort Building.

And catch the next train, too!  The San Joaquin Valley Division of the Toy Train Operating Society have come aboard to engineer a fantastic model train exhibit, complete with train memorabilia, every day at this year’s fair. The model trains will run continuously with society members on board to share train trivia. This great exhibit is in the foyer area of the Commercial Building.

More than 22,000 exhibits will be on display during the fair’s 10-day run, submitted by over 7,000 individual exhibitors.  Exhibits include arts, crafts, livestock, horticulture, floriculture and more!  “Our exhibits program is the cornerstone of the Stanislaus County Fair,” said Leo.

The Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st year.  The theme of this year’s fair is “Through the Eyes of a Child.”  Last year, a record-number of family members enjoyed the fair as attendance topped 215,000 visitors.

The mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a family and community oriented experience promoting agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
