Stanislaus County Fair kicks off for a great 10-day run

Jam-packed with new features, piles of fun for kids, free rides for senior citizens, incredible celebrity entertainment and awesome exhibits, the Stanislaus County Fair opened for its 10-day run on  Friday, July 26.  

“Thousands of Central Valley residents filed through the gates over the weekend to hear Grand Funk Railroad, Chris LeDoux and Collin Raye on our free stage,” shared Pennie Rorex, Stanislaus County Fair spokesperson. “Our board and staff have worked hard to plan a fantastic fair and our fair guests have responded extremely positive.”

 Up on Monday, July 29, at 8:00 p.m. in the Food Maxx Arena, is the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd rock band.  While reserved seating for the show sold out in just four days, 950 general admission tickets will go on sale on Monday, at 5:00 p.m. at the arena box office (inside the fairgrounds).

            Continuing with the tradition of incredible entertainment at the Stanislaus County Fair, Martina McBride will perform in the Food Maxx Arena on Tuesday, July 30, with one show at 8:00 p.m.  There are still some reserved seats available.  Reserved seats are $18 & 20.  General admission seating, available at 5:00 p.m. on the day of the show, is $16 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.

Food Maxx Arena event tickets can be purchased at the Stanislaus County Fair Office, 900 N. Broadway, Turlock, or at tickets.com outlets in Raley’s Supermarkets in Manteca; Merced; Modesto; Ceres; and Turlock.

            Kids Night, hosted by California Dairies, Inc., is Wednesday, July 31.  All children 12 and under will be admitted free.  On Kids Night, the first 500 children through the gates will receive a free toy-size foam cow on a “leash.”  And, for the big kids on July 31, Tower of Power will perform one show at 8:30 p.m. on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage.

            The non-stop entertainment continues on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage throughout the week:

  • Thursday, August 1, 8:30 p.m. – Keith Urban – Country music star

  • Friday, August 2, 8:30 pm. - Toto – Timeless rock band

  • Saturday, August 3, 8:00 & 10:00 p.m. - Ronnie Milsap – Country music legend

  • Sunday, August 4, 8:30 p.m. - Three Dog Night – Classic 70’s pop/rock band

The Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st year.  The theme of this year’s fair is “Through the Eyes of a Child.”  Last year, a record-number of family members enjoyed the fair as attendance topped 215,000 visitors.
