Students
invited to VIP tours of the Stanislaus County Fair!
Turlock— Teachers and students are invited to get a close-up look
at the highlights of the Stanislaus County Fair.
For
13 years the Stanislaus County Fair has opened its
gates during non-fair hours to escort schoolchildren
on guided tours of the Fair.
Classes from all over Stanislaus County are
invited to participate in the free school tours.
School
tours are slated for Monday,
July 29; Tuesday July 30; Thursday, August 1; and
Friday, August 2.
The first tour begins at 9:00 a.m. with tours
departing every 10 minutes thereafter, concluding at
11:30 a.m. daily. Each tour lasts approximately 90
minutes.
Stanislaus
County Fair school tours take students through the
following areas:

Arts and
Crafts Building: Lego displays; missions built by
students; woodworking projects and more
·
Horticulture
Building: Homemade scarecrows, giant vegetables
and more
·
FFA and
4-H Building: Real farm equipment welded and
handmade by FFA students; decorated cakes, sewing
projects, ceramics—all made by 4-H students
·
Rabbits
and Poultry Barn: The real McCoy!
Cinnamon rabbits, checker giant rabbits, Bantam
chickens, ducks and turkeys
·
4-H
Farmyard Experience: Hands-on activities such as
wool spinning and butter making, plus a petting zoo
The
tours continue with a first-hand look at the
Create-a-Cow projects submitted by various elementary
schools in Stanislaus County.
And, the tours conclude with treats of ice cold
punch and delicious snacks.
School tours are offered free of charge, but must be scheduled in
advance. Tour
times are limited and are available on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Teachers and parents interested in making a reservation for a school tour should contact Stacy Crow, tour
coordinator, at 668-1333 extension 330.
The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st
year. The theme of this year’s fair is “Through the Eyes of a
Child.” Last
year, a record-number of family members enjoyed the
fair as attendance topped 215,000 visitors.
The
mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a
family and community oriented experience promoting
agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
