Denair
fruit and nut grower makes exhibiting at Stanislaus
County Fair a tradition
Turlock
–As the Stanislaus County Fair exhibit deadline
approaches, one of the hundreds of exhibitors
guaranteed to enter is Kenneth
Beckett of Denair.
The
Fair has more than rides, shows and great food and Denair
resident Kenneth Beckett is testimony to that! Beckett has exhibited the almonds and apricots that he farms
for more than three decades.
The
Stanislaus County Fair offers opportunities for those
pre-kindergarten to senior citizens to exhibit their
talents in areas of livestock, horticulture,
floriculture, fine arts, crafts, photography and home
arts. Participants,
like Beckett, are eligible to win cash prizes, ribbons
and even sponsored gifts.
Beckett’s
almonds and apricots will be on display again this
year, along with his favorite plants and perhaps one
of his drawings.
Beckett
encourages more competitors to join in the family fun.
“Just try it, for your own enjoyment,”
encouraged Beckett.
And he practices what he preaches.
His thirty-plus years of exhibiting will
continue in 2002.
