Vocalists:
Stanislaus County Fair Idol auditions July 12
Area
vocalists have something to sing about—the grand
prize for the Stanislaus County Fair Idol Competition
is $1,000, five hours of recording time and a chance
to perform live on Planet 95—it’s enough to hit
the high notes for.
Mark your calendar now and remember that the
Saturday after the 4th of July weekend is
audition day and 10 young, talented vocalists will
become the Stanislaus County Fair’s Idol competition
finalists.
Audition
announcements were distributed to music stores, vocal
instructors and music teachers around the county and
the response has been a wave of excitement over the
rare local opportunity.
“We knew
the contest would generate interest because it gives
young people with talent a venue to perform and
actually win great prizes, in addition to exposure,”
said Janine Runnels, competition coordinator. “We
have received a lot of response and look forward to
seeing the county’s best young vocalists come out
and show what they can do.”
Those
interested in auditioning still have time to make
dreams into reality. Auditions on Saturday, July 12,
2003, begin with registration from 7 to 7:30 a.m, but
only 100 contestants will be auditioned.
There is
no need to register beforehand.
However, contestants much provide proof of age
and residency at the registration, along with their
unique ability to sing a cappella.
“This
will be a lot of fun. We think there’s a good chance
someone from our area could make it really big and
this could be the chance they need,” said Runnels.
