Cowboy Glen Campbell at the Stanislaus County Fair
Turlock—Living
legend Glen Campbell will dazzle audiences at the
Stanislaus County Fair with his laid-back charm and
charisma, even after 35 years in the entertainment
business as a singer, television host, writer, and
even an actor.
Campbell
will be appearing with his daughter Debby, who
tours with him regularly, on the Budweiser Variety Stage on Friday, August 1 at 8:30
p.m. All concerts on this stage are included
with the price of fair admission.
“Glen
Campbell is an entertainment veteran who sounds as
great today as he did three decades ago,” said
Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County
Fair. “He
is an incredibly talented performer and it’s no
surprise that he has had 12 gold albums and 75 trips
to the charts—27 of those hits in the Top 10.”
Campbell is also well known for his staring
role alongside John Wayne in the western classic
“True Grit.” And
he’ll always be remembered for his television show
“The Glen Campbell Hour,” a number one show in the
60s that allowed Campbell the opportunity to showcase
such talents as Kenny Rogers, Lucille Ball and Johnny
Cash.
Campbell
still sings his hits “By the Time I Get to
Phoenix” and “Rhinestone Cowboy.” “His famous
twang reminds us why we fell for the gentle cowboy all
those years ago and why his honest, meaningful songs
are still popular today,” said Rorex.
