Stanislaus
County Fair adds third headliner to concert line
up--Sugar Ray
Turlock
– Stanislaus County Fair officials have landed the
pop sensation Sugar
Ray for this year’s fair, making it three
headliner concerts during the fair’s 10-day run.
Sugar
Ray, known for great hits like “Fly,” “Every
Morning,” “When It’s Over” and the remake of
Joe Jackson’s “Is She Really Going Out with
Him?” will perform in the FoodMaxx Arena on Sunday, August 1, at 8 p.m. at the
Stanislaus County Fair.
Reserved
seat tickets for the Stanislaus County Fair
FoodMaxx arena events go on sale on
Saturday, May 1, 2004.
“It’s
not every year that we offer three headliner concerts
but when the opportunity arose to land Sugar Ray, in
addition to Brad Paisley and Journey, we were
confident we had hit a trifecta,” said Pennie Rorex,
spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.
“Each of
these three headliners performs a different genre of
music and the Stanislaus County Fair has become known
as the fair that offers music for everyone.”
Sugar Ray
has been a constant in the music industry, not afraid
to experiment and not afraid to stick with what they
know either. “We’re definitely a pop band, no
doubt about it,” said Mark McGrath.
“And I say that with no shame. When I think
of pop, I think of the stuff that stands the test of
time. All we ever wanted to do was to make music that
would sound great on the radio.”
That is
just what Sugar Ray has done too. The band has been
together almost 15 years. “We’re so lucky to be
here,” said drummer Stan Frazier.
E!
Online
reported last week that Sugar Ray is part of a new TV
reality show that features eight individuals who
accompany Sugar Ray on tour while competing for a job
at a record label. Dubbed On the Road, the show
is scheduled to premiere this summer. It will follow
eight contestants who embark on a crash course in the
music biz, from learning to be a roadie to dealing
with all the trials and tribulations that come with
organizing a national tour.
At the end of each episode, Sugar Ray will
eliminate one person and the last man (or woman)
standing receives an employment opportunity at a
record company and other prizes.
Tickets
for the Sugar Ray concert are $18 for reserved
grandstand seating and $20 for reserved arena floor
seating.
