Country
sensation “Emerson Drive” on free stage at
Stanislaus County Fair!
Turlock–”Emerson
Drive,” the new kids on the Nashville block, will
perform at the 2004 Stanislaus County Fair!
 Emerson
Drive, known for hits like “Fall Into Me,” “How
Lucky I Am” and “Only God (Could Stop Me Loving
You)” will perform on Sunday, August 1, at 8:30
p.m. on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at the
Stanislaus County Fair.
All concerts on this stage are included with
the price of fair admission.
“Emerson
Drive is a uniquely different country group that has
taken the country scene by storm,” said Pennie Rorex,
spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “They
are yet another band on our incredible line-up of free
entertainment planned for this year’s fair.”
The
six-member group started with a high school talent
contest. Brad Mates (vocals) was an 11th-grader singing for
the first time in front of an audience with some of
his high school buddies.
They often talked about becoming country stars,
but they never imagined their dreams would take them
this far. In
2003, the Academy of Country Music named “Emerson
Drive” Top New Vocal Duo/Group. They also received a
nomination for the CMT Flameworthy Video Music Award
for Breakthrough Video of the Year, for “Fall Into
Me” (2003), and they also received a Billboard
Music Award for New Country Artist of the Year (2002).

The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 93rd
year. The 2004 fair opens Friday July 30 for a
10-day run. The
theme for this year’s fair is “Say Cheese!”
Last
year more than 225,000 people enjoyed the fair.
In 2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee
readers voted the Stanislaus County Fair their
“Favorite All-Around Event” in the Bee’s
Reader’s Choice Awards.
