Latin
music to get fairgoers on their feet!
Turlock
– Entertainment will take on the spice of life on
three exciting nights at the Stanislaus County Fair!
Graciela
Beltran, The Mario Flores Band and Timbalero Salsa and
Latin Jazz Band will all perform at the 2004
Stanislaus County Fair.
And best of all, all three shows are included
with the nominal price of fair admission.
“We take
pride in providing a wide variety of music to suit the
variety of music preferences of all of our fair
guests,” said Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the
Stanislaus County Fair.
“And we always look for the opportunity to
highlight local entertainers as well as the celebrity
acts like Graciela Beltran.”
The 2004
line up of Latin music is as follows:
Graciela
Beltran, Sunday, Aug. 8 at 8:30 p.m., Budweiser
Variety Free Stage:
Graciela Beltran has been nominated three consecutive
years for Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards in the
Regional Mexican category for “Best Artist of the
Year.” She
was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001 for “Best
Banda Album” and has a collection of gold and
platinum RIAA certified albums for her high and
successful track record in sales.
The
Mario Flores Band, Saturday, Aug. 7 from 8 to 11 p.m.,
Coors Center Stage:
The Mario
Flores Band has been influenced by the music of Tito
Puente, Cal Tjader, and Mongo Santamaria.
Mario has performed with such outstanding
entertainers as Pete Escovedo, Bobby McFarren and
Freddie Ravel. The
Mario Flores Band’s diverse flavor, Latin groove and
hard-hitting rhythms are well presented on their
recorded CD, Chiltepins (a wild pepper).
The cross-section of music includes renditions
of well-known cover Latin tunes and band’s original
compositions, as well as tunes from their forthcoming
new CD, Cocinando.
Timbalero
Salsa and Latin Jazz Band, Sunday, Aug. 1 from 8 to 11
p.m., Coors Center Stage: Timbalero
was formed in 2003 by Richard Martinez Jr.
Richard has been playing music since the late
1960s and is originally from the south bay of San
Francisco (San Jose).
Richard has played with some of the best
musicians in the Bay Area.
He recently opened up for George Lopez at
Modesto’s Salsa Festival in September of 2003 which
had an estimated attendance close to 6,000 people.
Timbalero also played the September 16 festival
for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2003.
The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 93rd
year. The 2004 fair opens Friday, July 30 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Say
Cheese!”
Last year
more than 225,000 people enjoyed the fair. In 2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee readers voted
the Stanislaus County Fair their “Favorite
All-Around Event” in the Bee’s Reader’s
Choice Awards.
The

agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
