deadline approaches for Stanislaus County Fair
Turlock
–Do you love to cook or bake?
Then turn up the burner because the heat is on
to make the deadline to exhibit at the Stanislaus
County Fair’s food contests!
Amateur
chefs and cooks of all abilities are encouraged to
select from an extensive menu of options,
maybe even become creative and submit a recipe of the
low-carb craze! The
palate of choices for the special contests include:
In
the Home Arts department:
(Adult
exhibitors)
*Please
note: each contest has rules specific to its cuisine,
but the main ingredient for all is that all recipes
must be homemade and the recipe must be included.
Each of these contests is judged live before an
audience in the Save Mart Home Arts Ag/Hort Building
during fair hours.

The
deadline for entering the special contest is no later
than Thursday, July 15 by 5 p.m.
Exhibitors
must sign up in person at the fair office.

Stanislaus County Fair, Turlock Library, Valley
Distributors; Ceres, Suszanne’s Ceramics; Hilmar,
Hilmar Cheese; Oakdale, Oakdale Feed; Riverbank,
Morris Nursery; Waterford, Waterford Farm
Supply; Patterson, Patterson Library.
Exhibitor handbooks and entry forms are also
available at the following Modesto locations
Elegant Stitch, Nasco West, Scenic Nursery, Stanislaus
Library and The Camera Center.

The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 93rd
year. The 2004 fair opens Friday, July 30 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Say
Cheese!”
Last year
more than 225,000 people enjoyed the fair. In 2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee readers voted
the Stanislaus County Fair their “Favorite
All-Around Event” in the Bee’s Reader’s
Choice Awards.

provide a family and community oriented experience
promoting agriculture, education, entertainment and
