“The
Idol competition was one of the highlights of the 2003
Stanislaus County Fair,” said Janine Runnels, Idol
competition coordinator for the Stanislaus County
Fair. “The
finalists were great and they had a fabulous time.
The audience grew from hundreds the first night
to more than a thousand every other night because the
competition was so fabulous.”
Ceres
resident Greg Scudder was voted 2003 Stanislaus County
Fair Idol by the audience and won a $1,000 cash prize.
“It
was a great experience and I met a lot of great
people,” said Scudder.
“If I could I’d do it all over again.”
Scudder,
now19-years old, had just started singing two years
prior to his 2003 audition.
But his love for country music was evident from
the moment he sang his first note. Scudder performed
Brad Paisley’s “The Fishing Song” during
competition and won the audience over when he peeled
off his long sleeve shirt and revealed a fishing vest
underneath.
Scudder graduated from Ceres High School. He
continues to pursue his vocal career and made the
second cut when auditioning for “Nashville Star,”
a fete only accomplished by 60 of the thousands of
contestants nationwide. Most recently Scudder was
named the Grand Marshal of the Ceres Street Fair
Parade, an annual event in his home town that attracts
thousands each year.
Vocalists
interested auditioning for the Stanislaus County Fair
