The
Marshall Tucker Band to play at the Stanislaus County
Fair!
Turlock
– Stanislaus County Fair officials have booked the
Southern rock group “The Marshall Tucker Band” as
part of the jam-packed free entertainment planned for
the 2004 Stanislaus County Fair!
The
Marshall Tucker Band, known for hits like “Heard It
In a Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain” and
“Take The Highway,” will perform on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage on Wednesday, August 4, at 8:30
p.m. at the Stanislaus County Fair.
All concerts on this stage are included with
the price of fair admission.
“The
Marshall Tucker Band has a unique connection with
their fans,” said Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the
Stanislaus County Fair. “They love to rock the socks off of their audience and
that’s just what they are planning to do at our
fair!”
Doug Gray,
lead vocals, is a founding member of The Marshall
Tucker Band and is the single remaining original
member. Other
members include: Tony Heatherly, bass guitar and
vocals, who joined the band in 2001; Chris Hicks,
guitar and vocals, who joined the band in 2001; Stuart
Swanlund, slide guitar and vocals, who joined the band
in 1989; B.B. Borden, drums, who joined the band in
1990; and David Muse, keyboard, saxophone, flute and
vocals, who rejoined the band in 2003 after a three
year absence.
The Marshall Tucker Band has had six albums go
gold in sales, and three albums go platinum.
The Marshall Tucker Band has a new album
entitled Beyond The Horizon, and is expecting
it’s release in spring of this year.
It’s their 21st studio album for
the 21st century!

Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 93rd
year. The
2004 fair opens Friday, July 30 for a 10-day run.
The theme for this year’s fair is “Say
Cheese!”
Last year
more than 225,000 people enjoyed the fair. In 2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee readers voted
the Stanislaus County Fair their “Favorite
All-Around Event” in the Bee’s Reader’s
Choice Awards.
