EXHIBIT DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR STANISLAUS COUNTY FAIR

            Turlock – If you plan to show off your hobby or craft at the Stanislaus County Fair get moving as the deadline to enter is just around the corner!

            The exhibit deadline for Stanislaus County Fair open division and remaining 4-H & FFA entry forms is Thursday, June 16 by 5 p.m. 

            “There were more than 25,500 individual entries exhibited at the 2004 Stanislaus County Fair,” said Tony Leo, chief executive officer for the Stanislaus County Fair.  “Our outstanding exhibit program is the heart of the Stanislaus County Fair and is what sets this fair apart from a traditional amusement park.  Exhibiting at the fair is a family tradition for hundreds of families in our community – it’s something for the young and the young-at-heart.”

            Specific entry forms are due no later than Thursday, June 16 by 5 p.m. for the following divisions:

  • 4-H & FFA Agriculture Horticulture (fruits and vegetables), 4-H and FFA Ornamental Horticulture (gardens, flowers, etc.) and FFA Ag Mechanics

  • Junior & Senior Departments: Home Arts including preserved foods, baked foods (periods 1 & 2), tablesettings (periods 1 & 2) and clothing-textiles, Fine Arts and Crafts, Photography

  • Junior Department: Industrial Arts

  • Senior Department: Open Livestock, Scarecrow and Open Poultry

Exhibitor handbooks and entry forms are also available at the following locations: Turlock, Cloth & Quilts, Stanislaus County Fair, Turlock Library, Valley Distributors, Jaureguy’s Paint & Decorating, Turlock Livestock Auction, Western Valley Insurance; Ceres, Suszanne’s Ceramics, Ceres Library; Crows Landing, Mt. View Feed & Seed; Hilmar, Hilmar Cheese; Oakdale, Oakdale Feed, Oakdale Library; Riverbank, Morris Nursery; Waterford, City of Waterford, Feed & Seed, Waterford Library; Patterson, Patterson Library.  Exhibitor handbooks and entry forms are also available at the following Modesto locations Hischier Nursery, Nasco West, Scenic Nursery, Stanislaus County Free Library, Edwards Cake & Candy and JS West Milling.

The Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 94th year.  The 2005 fair opens Friday, July 29 for a 10-day run.  The theme of this year’s fair is “Tropical Nights and Midway Lights.”  Last year more than 225,000 people enjoyed the fair.  In 2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee readers voted the Stanislaus County Fair their “Favorite All-Around Event” in the Bee’s Reader’s Choice Awards.
