WAR RETURNING TO FREE
STAGE AT STANISLAUS COUNTY FAIR
Turlock
– Classic rock sensation WAR is returning to the
Stanislaus County Fair’s Budweiser Variety Free
Stage to rock the house once again.
WAR, known for hits
like “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “Low Rider” and “The
Cisco Kid,” is slated to perform on the Budweiser
Variety Free Stage on Thursday, Aug. 4 at
the Stanislaus County Fair.
“WAR is a musical
group that has withstood the test of time and we are
thrilled to have them at the Fair for a second
time,” said Tony Leo, chief executive officer of the
Stanislaus County Fair. “This group is always a hit
with fans and is sure to be standing room only!”
“WAR” was founded in
1969 with a mission to spread a message of
brotherhood and harmony. This mission was
accomplished—they have released 24 albums and sold
30-million records. WAR’s 12 multi-platinum,
platinum and gold-selling albums showcase their
ability to fuse rock, jazz, Latin and rhythm and
blues, including the quadruple platinum “The World
is a Ghetto.”
WAR was the first and
most successful musical crossover phenomenon that
forever fused these musical genres while
transcending racial and cultural barriers with a
multi-ethnic line-up. WAR is an enduring influence
that has sold 30 million records to date.
The seven members of
WAR include: Lonnie Jordan, keyboard/vocals; Sal
Rodriguez, drums/vocals; Francisco “Pancho”
Tomaselli, bass/vocals; Tetsuya “Tex” Nakamura,
