Tower of Power
brings soul and funk
to the Stanislaus County Fair!
Turlock— “You’re
still a young man” if you know the lyrics of
the songs of Tower
of Power—a hot soul and funk group who has been
making music since the 1960’s.
Tower
of Power, with their brand on soul and funk, will
take center stage on Wednesday,
July 31 on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage. All concerts on this
stage are included with the price of fair admission.
Tower of Power’s hits
include “You’re
Still A Young Man,” “What Is Hip?,” “Back to
Oakland,” “Souled Out,” “Soul Vaccination”
and “Rhythm & Business.”
“Tower
of Power, four decades later, is doing what they have
done all along, only better,” said Pennie Rorex,
fair spokeswoman.
“They are a group of ten talented musicians
who create an incredible sound with their brass
section. The
band also puts on a powerful, crowd-standing
performance,” Rorex said.

The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st
year. The 2002 fair opens
Friday, July 26 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Through
the Eyes of a Child.”
Last year more than 215,000 family members
enjoyed the Stanislaus County Fair.
The
mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a
family and community oriented experience promoting
agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
