Tower of Power brings soul and funk
to the Stanislaus County Fair!

Turlock— “You’re still a young man” if you know the lyrics of  the songs of Tower of Power—a hot soul and funk group who has been making music since the 1960’s.

Tower of Power, with their brand on soul and funk, will take center stage on Wednesday, July 31 on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage.  All concerts on this stage are included with the price of fair admission.

Tower of Power’s hits include  “You’re Still A Young Man,” “What Is Hip?,” “Back to Oakland,” “Souled Out,” “Soul Vaccination” and “Rhythm & Business.”

“Tower of Power, four decades later, is doing what they have done all along, only better,” said Pennie Rorex, fair spokeswoman.  “They are a group of ten talented musicians who create an incredible sound with their brass section.  The band also puts on a powerful, crowd-standing performance,” Rorex said.

As of today, the lineup on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage includes:

·        Grand Funk Railroad  - Friday, July 26.

·        Collin Raye - Sunday, July 28

·        Tower of Power – Wednesday, July 31

The Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 91st year.  The 2002 fair opens Friday, July 26 for a 10-day run.  The theme of this year’s fair is “Through the Eyes of a Child.”  Last year more than 215,000 family members enjoyed the Stanislaus County Fair.

The mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a family and community oriented experience promoting agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
