TURLOCK
BUSINESS OWNERS APPOINTED TO STANISLAUS FAIR BOARD
Turlock – Ask
about Carlos Estacio’s and Jack Wilkey’s
involvement in the Turlock community and you’re
certain to get a very long list and the list just got
longer.
Estacio and Wilkey were appointed by Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this month to the 38th
District Agricultural Association’s Board of
Directors, more commonly reffered to as the Stanislaus
County Fair Board.
Both men bring many years of experience and
community involvement to the table of an already
impressive group of men and women.
Estacio is the owner/operator of San Isidro
Jerseys in Turlock and is a member of the Western
United Dairymen, the California Dairy Campaign, the
National Jersey Association, and has served on the
Stanislaus County Farm Bureau Board of Directors since
1994.
Wilkey
is currently the owner/operator of Wilkey Sheet Metal
in
Turlock. He
has been a member of many community and agricultural
associations including the California Grain and Feed
Association, state and county Future Farmers of
America programs and the Rural Fire District Board.
“As a
policy setter for the Stanislaus County Fair,
Carlos’ and Jack’s broad-based community and
agricultural experiences will be an asset,” said
Tony Leo, chief executive officer of the Stanislaus
County Fair. “We
warmly welcome these men and their new ideas to the
fair board.”
The
Stanislaus County Fair is now in its 94th
year. The 2005 fair opens
Friday, July 29 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Tropical
Nights and Midway Lights.”
Last year more than 225,000 people enjoyed the
fair. In
2002 and again in 2003, Modesto Bee readers
voted the Stanislaus County Fair their “Favorite
All-Around Event” in the Bee’s Reader’s
Choice Awards.
The
mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a
family and community oriented experience promoting
agriculture, entertainment and technology.
