MEL TILLIS TO PERFORM AT
THE STANISLAUS COUNTY FAIR
Turlock – The Coca Cola Cowboy is
coming to the Stanislaus County Fair.
Country music legend Mel Tillis, known
for hits like “Good Woman Blues,” Coca Cola Cowboy”
and “Southern Rain” will perform
on
the Budweiser Variety Free Stage on
Friday, August 5, at 8:30 p.m. at the
Stanislaus County Fair.
“Mel Tillis is synonymous with country
music,” said Tony Leo, chief executive officer of
the Stanislaus County Fair. “The only thing better
than Mel Tillis performing at our fair is the fact
that this concert is free with the price of your
fair admission.”
Tillis has been in the
music/entertainment business for 48 years, having
recorded over 60 albums. He and his band, the
Statesiders, have played concerts all over the
United States, Canada, England and around the
world. Tillis has had 36 Top 10 single hits, with
nine of these hits ultimately soaring to number one.

The Stanislaus County
Fair is now in its 94th year. The
2005 fair opens Friday, July 29 for a 10-day run.
The theme of this year’s fair is “Tropical Nights
and Midway Lights.” Last year more than 225,000
people enjoyed the fair. In 2002 and again in 2003,
Modesto Bee readers voted the Stanislaus
County Fair their “Favorite All-Around Event” in the
Bee’s Reader’s Choice Awards.
