oldies but
goodies: diamonds and coasters
to play stanislaus county fair
Turlock
– The Stanislaus County Fair is bringing
guests two favorite oldies groups for the
price of, well… none!
The
Diamonds and The Coasters will give Turlock
a taste of the 50’s at the Stanislaus County
Fair’s
Budweiser Variety Free Stage on Tuesday,
Aug. 1, at 8:30 p.m. These Golden
Era favorites will be brought to you by host
KABX OLDIES 97.5.
All concerts
on this stage are included with the price of
fair gate admission.
“We’re twisting and shouting with this
latest booking, as collectively these two
groups have over 100 years of musical
distinction,” said Pennie Rorex, fair
spokesperson. “They’ve written and covered
some of music’s most popular oldies tunes!”
These two acts have performed some of
the most popular hits of the 50s and 60s.
The Coasters’ “Charlie Brown,” “Love Potion
No. 9,” and “Yakety Yak” are synonymous with
poodle skirts, pompadours and good-time
oldies. The Diamonds first single “Little
Darlin’” was an instant hit, selling
millions of copies upon its release in 1957.
Like “The Fonz” and his favorite leather
jacket, the music of The Diamonds and The
Coasters will never lose its cool.
The Diamonds
and The Coasters is the ninth concert to be
announced for the 2006 Stanislaus County
Fair. With six stages filled with
entertainment each night of its 10-day run,
the fair has something to offer every member
of the family.
