LIGHTENING-FAST fiddler Charlie Daniels
TO play Stanislaus County Fair
Turlock –The
South’s gonna do it at the Stanislaus County Fair
with The Charlie Daniels Band illuminating the
Budweiser Variety Free Stage.
The Charlie Daniels Band went Triple
Platinum with the release of their Million Mile
Reflections album which featured “The Devil Went
Down to Georgia,” a song now synonymous with
Southern music. The group will bring its
boogie-woogie fiddle country blues to the
Budweiser Variety Free Stage Saturday, Aug. 5, at
8:30 p.m. All concerts on this stage are included
with the price of admission.
“Charlie Daniels brings amazing
musicianship and classic Southern charm to the
Stanislaus County Fair,” said Pennie Rorex,
spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “He
also brings an award-winning tour with over a
million miles of country music history. It is a
treat to provide a performance of this caliber to
our fair guests.”
Charlie Daniels’ musical career spans
from roles as a songwriter and producer to
award-winning musician. Fans know Daniels best for
his hypersonic fiddle and signature bull-rider hat.
In 1979 “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” took both
pop and country charts by storm and earned Daniels a
Grammy Award and three Country Music Association
trophies. Daniels is also an accomplished songwriter
and producer, having penned “It Hurts Me” for ”The
King” himself, Elvis Presley and produced three
albums for folk music legend Bob Dylan in the early
stages of his musical career.
The Charlie Daniels Band is the first of
many exciting musical acts to be announced at the
Stanislaus County Fair. With six stages filled with
entertainment each night of its 10-day run, the fair
has something to offer every member of the family.
In addition to the Budweiser Variety
Free Stage entertainment included with fair gate
admission, tickets will go on sale Saturday., May 6
for major celebrity concerts and motor sports events
in the fair’s FoodMaxx Arena including:

The Stanislaus County
Fair is now in its 95th year. The 2006
fair opens Friday, July 28 for a 10-day run. The
theme of this year’s fair, “Pig Out on Family Fun,”
is sure to provide a good time for kids and adults
alike. The fair has twice been honored with
Modesto Bee Reader’s Choice Awards for “Favorite
All-Around Event.”
