exhibitors,
raising
livestock is
essentially
their first
job,’ said Tony
Leo, the chief
executive
officer of the
Stanislaus
County Fair.
“They work very
hard throughout
the year for
what they will
earn at the
Replacement
Heifer Sale or
Junior Livestock
Auction.”
Local dairymen
and women are
invited to the
39th
Annual
Replacement
Heifer Sale on
Friday, Aug. 4,
immediately
following the
Dairy Awards
Assembly which
begins at 7 p.m.
in the Thurman
Pavilion. The
event is
sponsored by
County Bank.
The 2005 Annual
Replacement
Heifer Sale
grossed $293,525
with a total of
91 replacement
heifers entered.
Matoson Pereira
of Chatom 4-H
earned $6,500
for his Supreme
Champion
replacement
heifer and the
Reserve Supreme
Grand Champion,
exhibited by
Brent Nelson of
Turlock FFA,
earned $5,000.

steer, swine,
sheep and goats
at the 42nd
Annual Junior
Livestock
Auction,
Saturday, Aug. 5
following the
Livestock Awards
Assembly in the
Thurman
Livestock
Pavilion. The
assembly begins
at 8 a.m.
The 2005 Junior
Livestock
Auction grossed
$494,735.63 with
538 animals
entered in seven
divisions.

II’s Reserve
Supreme Champion
Jr. Market Steer
weighed in at
1,311 pounds and
sold for an
impressive
amount—$19,500.
With over 1,600
4-H and FFA
animals entered
in the 2006
Stanislaus
County Fair,
this year’s sale
and auction are
sure to produce
an impressive
roster of
livestock.
The Stanislaus
County Fair is
now in its 95th
year. The 2006
fair opens
Friday, July 28
for a 10-day
run. The theme
of this year’s
fair, “Pig Out
on Family Fun,”
is sure to
provide a good
time for kids
and adults
alike. The fair
has twice been
honored with
Modesto Bee
Reader’s Choice
Awards for
“Favorite
All-Around
Event.”
The mission of
the Stanislaus

promoting
agriculture,
