classes invited to
create a pig
Turlock
– Attention
teachers—it’s a
squeal of a deal,
but time is running
out for your
students to
participate in one
of the Stanislaus
County Fair’s most
creative programs!
A
limited number of
kits for the
Stanislaus County
Fair’s annual
“Create an Animal”
Ag education program
are still available.
“I guess pigs
really do fly! We
are more than half
way through our
supply of 65 “Create
a Pig” kits so we
urge teachers and
instructors to
reserve their kits
today,” said Mary
Hemminger, deputy
manager of the
Stanislaus County
Fair. “The June 13
entry deadline is
fast approaching for
this fun and
educational
program.”
Complimentary
“Create a Pig” kits
are still available
to teachers in
Stanislaus County.
The free kits,
sponsored by
American Ag Credit,
include educational
books, activities
for the classroom
and a fabricated
wood “pig” base for
students to go hog
wild and create a
pig.
“Not only does this
program instruct
students about the
importance of our
agricultural
industry,” Hemminger
added, “it is a
wonderful
opportunity for
classes to work
together as a team
one more time before
the conclusion of
the school year.”
Teachers who want to
register for the
free program or who
would like more
information can call
the Stanislaus
County Fair office
at (209) 668-1333.
Kits are
available on a
first-come,
first-serve basis
while supplies last.
Once kits have been
reserved, teachers
need to stop by the
fairgrounds office
at 900 N. Broadway
in Turlock to
complete and sign an
entry form, pick up
their curriculum and
wooden pig base.
The deadline to
deliver the
classroom’s
completed project
and summary form is
Thursday, July 13 by
5 p.m. Completed
projects may be
turned in any day
prior to the
deadline, during
normal business
hours.
There are two
classes for the
competition: Class
one is preschool
through 2nd
grades and class two
is 3rd
through 6th
grades. Cash prizes
are awarded to
classes whose
creative pigs are
rated superior, good
and average by
project judges.
Every
masterpiece
submitted will be on
display at the
Stanislaus County
Fair, which opens
for it’s 10-day run
on Friday, July 28.
The Stanislaus
County Fair is now
in its 95th
