magic carpet ride at stanislaus county fair
Turlock
– Get your motor runnin’ and head out on the
highway this July for Steppenwolf at the
Stanislaus County Fair.
Classic
rock icons John Kay and Steppenwolf need no
introduction. Counterculture anthems “Born to
Be Wild” and “Magic Carpet Ride” continue to
rock fans of all ages today. Steppenwolf will
show the Stanislaus County Fair a howlin’ good
time on the
Budweiser Variety Free Stage on Wednesday, Aug.
2, at 8:30 p.m.
All concerts on
this stage are included with the price of fair
gate admission.
“The Stanislaus
County Fair is a great place to put away the
stresses and pressures of your work day and have
some outright fun,” said Pennie Rorex,
spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.
“The music of John Kay and Steppenwolf makes the
summer days of fun truly possible.”
Steppenwolf,
lead by original front man John Kay, burst upon
an unsuspecting public in the summer of 1968,
creating timeless classics “Born to Be Wild,”
“Magic Carpet Ride,” “The Pusher,” and “Rock
Me.” Their popularity grew steadily as “Born to
be Wild” was immortalized as the backdrop to the
Dennis Hopper cult-classic
Easy Rider.
Steppenwolf’s loyal fans, the “Wolf Pack,”
ensure their tradition of rock and roll
rebellion lives on.
John Kay and
Steppenwolf are the fifth act to be announced at
the Stanislaus County Fair. With six stages
filled with entertainment each night of its
10-day run, the fair has something to offer
every member of the family.
