Raven-Symoné performs on Stanislaus County Fair’s Kids Free Night

Kid’s Free Night at the Stanislaus County Fair is going to be “so Raven.”

“That’s So Raven” television and vocal star Raven-Symoné will perform at the Stanislaus County Fair on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 8:30 p.m. on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage. All children 12 and under will be admitted free on July 31—the occasion of the Fair’s annual Kids Free Night. The concert is hosted by KHOP 95-1 and is included with Fair admission.

“Raven-Symoné has literally grown up before our eyes,” said Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The multi-talented powerhouse was all of

2 years old when she captured our hearts on ‘The Cosby Show.’”

“Since then, whether it’s on TV, in a film or in the studio, Raven-Symoné has continued to evolve.  Her music is funky, feisty, smart and reflective.”

Raven-Symoné is best known for her award-winning show “That’s So Raven,” which she also starred in.  But her first well-known role was as Olivia Kendall on the TV series “The Cosby Show.” Raven-Symoné’s recording career began at age 5 with the release of the single “That’s what Little Girls Are Made of.”  She has also performed on the gold-certified soundtrack “That’s So Raven” and the double-platinum “The Cheetah Girls” soundtrack, which was the number two selling soundtrack in 2004.  Raven-Symoné has also enjoyed a successful solo career.  She released “Undeniable” in 1999, and in 2004 delivered “This is My Time.”

Her self-titled CD features emotional ballads to hip-hop and rhythm and blues. When you ask Raven-Symoné what her new CD means to her, she answers straight from the heart.  “It’s another way for me to show my fans how important they are to me and also to let them know who I am.  This album is a reflection of where I am right now.  I’m growing and challenging myself musically and most of all, that I’m just having fun with life.”

New to the 2008 Fair will be Jurassic Journey, an 8,000 square foot life-size dinosaur replica exhibit. The dinosaur exhibit is sponsored by Sky Trek Aviation and is making its California debut at the Stanislaus County Fair.

In 2008, the Stanislaus County Fair was awarded a first place award for the best Overall Children’s Program by the Western Fairs Association.
