LITTLE BIG TOWN WILL ‘BRING IT ON HOME’ AT THE STANISLAUS FAIR
 

Little Big Town will be bringing a taste of the ‘Boondocks’ to this year’s Stanislaus County Fair.
 

Little Big Town, 2007 ACM Top New Vocal Group, will be bringing down the house Tuesday, July 29, 2008. They will be appearing on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. Hosted by KAT Country 103, this concert is free with the price of Fair admission.
 

            “Little Big Town is a great group of people who stay true to the things that really matter—family, friends and the power of music,” said Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “Their harmonies will leave your whole family smiling as they sing about that down home feeling, one that we share as a community here in Stanislaus County.”
 

The band has garnered awards such as: 2006 Billboard Magazine’s Independent Artist of the Year and Independent Album of the Year. They were Grammy nominated in 2006 for Best Country Album and for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and in 2007 for their platinum album The Road to Here. It’s no wonder the band gains so many accolades with songs like “A Little More You,” “Good As Gone” and their current single “I’m With the Band.”
 

 “Mark your calendars to see members Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Roads Schlapman, Philip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town sing about the boondocks they came from and much more,” said Rorex.
 

The 2008 Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday, July 25 for a 10-day run. This year’s Stanislaus County Fair is themed “Nuts are DINO-mite,” a salute to the valley’s robust nut industry.  The Almond Board of California, a major sponsor of the Fair’s themed tribute, will be offering free samples of almonds each day of the Fair.
 

New to the 2008 Fair will be Jurassic Journey, an 8,000 square foot life-size dinosaur replica exhibit. The dinosaur exhibit is sponsored by Sky Trek Aviation and is making its California debut at the Stanislaus County Fair.
 

In 2008, the Stanislaus County Fair was awarded a first place award for the best Overall Children’s Program by the Western Fairs Association.  The mission of the Stanislaus County Fair is to provide a family and community oriented experience promoting agriculture, education, entertainment and technology.
