800.00 PUBLIC ACCOMODATION POLICY

As a place of public accommodation, the Stanislaus County Fair supports and upholds the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 to the full extent of the law.

To that end, the following guidelines are established regarding people with disabilities so they, their families, and friends can enjoy equal access to entertainment, recreation, and leisure.

FAIRGROUNDS PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible parking spaces for cars and vans are available on a first come, first-basis in the North Parking Lot. During fair time and for some major interim rental events, the West Parking Lot is also utilized and offers accessible parking spaces for cars and vans. The designated parking spaces are the closest parking spaces to the accessible entrances.

A passenger drop-off and pick-up area is provided at the North Parking lot Admission Entrance, located inside the North Parking Lot. To access the North Parking Lot during fair time and during some major interim rental events, a parking fee is charged.

Passenger drop-off and pick-up areas outside the fairgrounds are provided at Gate #1, located at 900 N. Broadway, near the Fair Administration Office entrance. A second passenger drop-off and pick-up area is provided at the Arch Gate. Located on Broadway Avenue, just north of Canal Drive. As these two areas are outside the parking lots, there is no parking fee charged to access these areas.

MOBILITY DEVICES

During the 10-day run of the fair, manual wheelchairs will be made available for use, free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. The fair guest utilizing the wheelchair must present photo identification at the time of issuance, which will be held by fair staff until the loaner wheelchair is returned. Loaner wheelchairs are due back to the check-out area 30 minutes before closing time the day of issuance.

Guest supplied mobility devices must meet Medicare and health insurance guidelines stating that the device must meet a person’s daily needs inside the home.

To protect the safety of all guests, powered mobility devices that exceed 9 MPH are not permitted.

ARENA AND VARIETY FREE STAGE SEATING:

Subject to event ticket availability, wheelchair accessible seating with ramp access is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Arena. All applicable event ticket prices apply for admission into the Arena during the 10-day run of the fair.

A designated wheelchair accessible seating area is provided in two locations at the Variety Free Stage during the 10-day run of the fair. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In both the Arena and the Variety Free Stage, a companion seat will be provided next to each wheelchair seating location. The companion seat is a conventional seat that accommodates a friend or companion. All applicable ticket prices apply for ticketed events.

RESTROOMS

Wheelchair accessible restrooms are available at the following locations:
• Building E1 (Homemade & Homegrown Exhibits Building)
• Building E2 (Commercial Exhibits Building)
• Building E3 (Ag Mechanics Building)
• R1 Restrooms (adjacent to the Sherriff’s Command Post)
• Livestock Area (Near B-6 and B-8 show rings)
• R5 and R6 Restrooms (adjacent to the Arena Box Office)

SERVICE ANIMALS

Service Animals are welcome in most locations throughout the fairgrounds; however, all service animals must remain on a leash or harness at all times. Fair staff members are not permitted to handle service animals.

Attractions at the fairgrounds are accessible to all guests with service animals via the standard queue. Due to the nature of the experience, service animals may not be permitted on some of the attractions.

SPECIAL EVENT

A special event for persons who have impairments* that substantially limit major life activities may be held during the 10-day run of the fair, during hours in which the fair is closed to the general public.

Advance written notification of the event may be distributed to the agencies and organizations whose primary function is to serve persons with impairments that substantially limit major life activities. In addition, individuals who meet these criteria but are not served by agencies and/or organizations may also request written notification of the event.
